Lovisa Wahlund Ferm
Soprano
Background and studies
Lovisa Wahlund Ferm is a soprano from Sandviken, Sweden.
Growing up, she took an interest in music and theater at an early age and has since her childhood been on stage in various musical and theatrical contexts and explored different fields in the performing arts.
She began her classical vocal studies at Stockholm Operastudio (Kulturama) in 2015, and in 2023 she completed her bachelor’s degree in Opera performance at Stockholm University of the Arts, followed by a master's degree in 2025.
During her studies Lovisa sang parts such as Norina (Don Pasquale, Donizetti) Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor, Donizetti) Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto, Cimarosa), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck) and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell) to name a few.
In 2022 Lovisa made her debut as Papagena in director Ole Anders Tandberg's Die Zauberflöte (W.A. Mozart) at the Royal Opera in Stockholm,
and in 2024 she did the title role in the newly written opera Fotografen (by Anna Einarsson) at the old theater in Vadstena.

Master studies
In 2024 Lovisa began her master studies in opera performance at Stockholm University of the Arts.
In her individual master project she explored different ways to express, enrich and bring meaning to coloratura passages in coloratura repertoire – to “contextualize, create intentional narratives and give a meaning to wordless singing.”
Her project resulted in a staged concert where she performed Cleopatras aria Da tempeste il legno infranto from Giulio Cesare (G.F. Händel), the aria of Le Feu from L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (M. Ravel) and Ofelias aria Pâle et Blonde from Hamlet (A. Thomas).
The scenes were woven together with a monologue, reflecting on the arts and their part in storytelling.
Contemporary opera
Lovisa has a special interest in contemporary opera and has so far taken part in the first premieres of two newly written operas.
In 2024 she sang the lead role in Fotografen (The Photographer) by Anna Einarsson after libretto by Magnus Florin, commissioned by Vadstena-Akademien and performed at the old theater in Vadstena.
In 2025 Lovisa sang one of the parts in You can speak freely – a one act opera composed by Martin Lissel after libretto and concept by artist Malina Suliman based on her own experience with seeking asylum.
